DTV:

First hit DTV.GOV and sign up for a rebate coupon.  Chances are that they will be on back order, as this Government sponcered program has already used up all the money it was issued to help lower the cost to the DTV transition.  However, have no fear, every coupon has an "expired by" date on it and they were issued in batches so as each batch expires, more money is returned to the fund to be re-issued in the form of new coupons.

So make it easier, we say if you have a smaller or older TV (where picture quality isn't going to matter to much) or your looking for the least expense solution, you should choose either the Insignia NS-DXA1 ($60 at Best Buy) or Zenith DTT900/901 ($60 at Circuit City). With either of these two boxes can use the $40 coupon offered by the government, reducing your out-of-pocket cost to $10 or $20. You can use the coupon for any model on the government's list of eligible DTV converters.
